MAGNETIC GOLF TOWEL SYSTEM — THE COMPLETE GUIDE (AIMING FLUID #1)

Magnetic golf towel system guide

Magnetic Golf Towel System: The Complete Guide

A complete magnetic golf towel system combines a towel that can scrub, wash and dry with a reliable place to return it. The magnet improves access; the cleaning layout and docking surface determine whether the setup works for an entire round.

Quick answer: Start with the towel size that matches how you play. Add a Magnetic Landing Pad when your bag does not provide a useful steel target in the place your hand naturally reaches. The towel supplies the magnet; the Landing Pad supplies a steel-core docking point and is not magnetic by itself.

Ownership disclosure: Aiming Fluid Golf designs and sells the Magna-Anchor™ towels and Landing Pad discussed on this page.

Four required parts

What makes a magnetic towel a system?

1. A secure attachment

The magnet must be housed securely and make full contact with a compatible steel surface. Curved edges, paint thickness, dirt, gaps and wet towel weight can reduce retention.

2. A predictable docking point

A towel is faster to use when it returns to the same place after every shot. A compatible cart frame may already provide that target; a steel-core Landing Pad can create one on the golf bag.

3. A real cleaning layout

A scrub surface loosens packed debris, an isolated damp zone washes the clubface or ball, and a separate microfiber area dries the surface before the next shot.

4. A backup connection

A sewn loop and carabiner remain useful when no magnetic surface is available, during transport or when a golfer prefers a conventional attachment.

Three ways to build the system

Towel only

Best when the cart, clubhead or bag already provides a flat steel target and you are comfortable moving the towel between locations.

Shop Towels

Towel + Landing Pad

Best when you want the towel to return to a fixed point on the bag. Fit depends on the divider lip and available mounting area.

Shop Stubby System

Large towel system

Best for cart players who want the 16×40 format, two wash pockets and more dry surface over 18 holes.

How to use it

The scrub–wash–dry routine

DockPlace the towel on a clean, flat steel target or Landing Pad.
ScrubUse the dedicated scrub pad to loosen packed dirt and grass.
WashUse the isolated damp pocket to lift debris from the clubface or ball.
DryFinish with the main microfiber surface before the next shot.
ReturnPut the towel back on the same docking point to keep the routine automatic.
Retention mechanics

Why magnetic towels slide or fall

A towel can feel strong in a straight pull and still slide during cart movement. Real rounds introduce shear force, vibration, repeated grabs and changing wet weight. Retention depends on the complete contact system—not one magnet specification.

Conditions that improve retention

  • Clean, flat steel with full contact
  • Minimal paint, rubber or fabric between the magnet and target
  • A balanced towel with no extra tools hanging from it
  • A predictable docking point away from constant impact

Conditions that reduce retention

  • Curved bars and narrow contact points
  • Sand, grit or moisture between surfaces
  • A heavily saturated towel
  • Lateral vibration and repeated edge loading
Landing Pad facts

What the Magnetic Landing Pad does

It creates a steel target

The Landing Pad contains a steel core. It slides over a compatible golf-bag lip between dividers so a magnetic towel or accessory has a repeatable place to attach.

It is not magnetic by itself

The towel, rangefinder or other accessory must contain the magnet. Retention depends on that accessory’s magnet, weight, housing and contact with the Pad.

Fit note: The Landing Pad is designed for stand, cart and tour-style bags, but divider shape and lip thickness vary. Confirm that the selected position provides stable contact and does not interfere with club removal.

Choose the Stubby for compact access, The 40 for maximum surface area, or a towel-and-Pad bundle when your bag needs a dedicated docking point.

Frequently asked questions

Magnetic golf towel system FAQ

What is a magnetic golf towel system?

It is a towel, attachment method and cleaning workflow designed to work together. A complete setup gives the towel a predictable docking point and separates scrubbing, washing and drying jobs.

Do I need a Landing Pad?

Not always. You may not need one when your cart or bag already provides a useful flat steel target. A Landing Pad is helpful when you want a fixed receiving point on a compatible golf bag.

Is the Landing Pad magnetic?

No. It contains a steel core. The towel or accessory supplies the magnet.

Which towel is better for walking?

The 16×24 Stubby is usually easier to manage for walking, stand bags and push carts. The 16×40 The 40 provides more cleaning and drying area for cart golf.

Why does a magnetic towel fall even when the magnet feels strong?

Straight pull strength is only one factor. Curved targets, incomplete contact, grit, vibration, shear force and added wet weight can all reduce real-world retention.
